New Stream Creation: Referrers - What are those?

If you want to create a stream specific to one of your marketing campaigns (like email marketing, social media, etc.), you will come across the ‘referrer’ in one way or another. Here are the options listed and what the most used ones actually mean.



Custom: Content: This is used when you want to track specific link from a post’s specific section; it is set up manually and a consultant can walk you through it.
Custom: Google Keyword: Since 2013, Google has everything encrypted, hence rendering this option unable to do what it once could.
Google Campaign: Works with Google Analytics; UTM Campaign name
Google Medium: Works with Google Analytics; how people got to the website, for example: email, social media, etc.
Google Source: Works with Google Analytics; where people come from, for example: Facebook, Mailchimp, etc.
Sub Type: Some systems pick this up automatically; how people got to the website, for example: Facebook, a google search, etc.
Type: Some systems pick this up automatically; where people come from, for example: social media, etc.
